Enterprise Rent-a-Car is looking to set up a new site in Chester, which could create jobs and support local businesses in the area
Chester: So, Enterprise Rent-a-Car is thinking about opening a new spot in Chester. They’ve put in a planning application to turn the old Vehicles For Leisure site on Dunkirk Way into their new location. This move could create some jobs and help out local suppliers.
If everything goes through, they’ll tear down the old canopy from the former motorhome dealership, expand the building a bit, and even add a vehicle wash bay. They’re saying this could bring about six full-time jobs, with a chance for more down the line.
Enterprise is a big player in the rental game, with over 9,500 locations in nearly 100 countries. They’re one of the largest transportation providers out there.
In a letter backing their plans, they mentioned that this development would help them grow sustainably and offer a good transport option for folks in the area, instead of relying solely on personal cars.
They also noted that the site would use the two existing access points from Dunkirk Way, along with the current parking and vehicle storage areas.
They’re planning for around 37 parking spaces and dedicated lanes for picking up and dropping off vehicles. But they did mention that for the rental operation to run smoothly, they expect about 90% of their rental cars to be out and about at any given time.
Besides creating jobs, they believe this will also benefit local businesses. They’re investing significantly in this vacant site, which could lead to more opportunities for local suppliers and service partners as well as for their employees and customers.
