Pembrokeshire opens emergency shelters as snow is expected this weekend, providing safety for rough sleepers during the severe weather.
Pembrokeshire: So, the Met Office has put out an amber weather warning for snow this weekend. Because of that, emergency shelters are opening up for those in need.
They’re expecting quite a bit of snow, like 15 to 30cm in some higher areas. That’s a lot, right? So, the council is stepping in to help out.
Starting tonight at 7 PM, rough sleepers can find a warm place to stay until Monday morning. It’s a good move, especially with the cold temperatures coming.
The Pembrokeshire County Council shared the news on Facebook, saying they’re opening the shelter due to the forecasted snow and chilly weather.
They’ll keep the shelter open until Monday morning, and they’ll check the situation again then. If you know someone who’s sleeping rough, they can get help during this time.
To get into the shelter, just call Gateway at 01437 775268 before 5 PM. If it’s after that, you’ll need to reach out to the out-of-hours team at 03003 332222. It’s all about keeping everyone safe and warm!
