Ellon’s new Formartine House will open soon, featuring a family centre and library for community services.
Ellon: Exciting news! Formartine House is almost ready to welcome visitors. It will be the first family resource centre and a new library in town.
This two-storey building is on Union Street, where the old Ellon Academy used to be. It will combine several council services in one place.
The main entrance leads to the new Ellon Library. The family resource centre has its own entrance and a play area for kids.

Opening on February 3, the centre will offer family support and parenting programs in a friendly environment.
They’ll also have life skills courses for all ages and abilities, with a kitchen for healthy living programs.
The new Ellon Library will have study areas and a room for local studies. The current library will close on February 1 for the move.
After the move, the new library will be open for 30 hours a week, continuing events like Bookbug sessions for kids.
The Registrars Service will also be in Formartine House, with a room for ceremonies and meetings.
To meet with registrars, you’ll need to make an appointment by email or phone.
