A 60-year-old woman was threatened in her flat during a robbery attempt, leaving her shaken and distressed
Edinburgh: A man named Issa Mohamed, 30, has been sentenced for trying to rob a woman in her flat. The incident left the victim really shaken up.
He got four years and eight months in prison after being found guilty. This all went down at the High Court in Kilmarnock on January 16, 2025.
The robbery attempt happened on February 17, 2024, when he threatened a 60-year-old woman with a fake gun at her home on Powderhall Rigg.
Just a few days earlier, on February 13, he had also threatened another woman in Glasgow, stealing her phone and some cash. Thankfully, both women were left unharmed.
Detective Constable Gary Lipscombe said that Mohamed’s actions were really calculated and caused a lot of distress for the victims. He emphasized that violence has no place in society.
Mohamed’s conviction shows that the authorities are serious about holding offenders accountable and keeping communities safe. It’s a reminder that they are working hard to bring justice to those affected.
