Edinburgh: Over the weekend, some brave locals decided to go ice skating on a frozen pond. With temperatures dropping to -7C, they flocked to Inverleith Pond, which was completely frozen over.

People were out there skating, while others just enjoyed walking on the ice. But not everyone was thrilled about it. Some residents were worried after seeing videos pop up on TikTok.

One person shared a scary story about their gran warning them about someone who fell through the ice as a kid. Another chimed in, recalling a time when school kids tried skating and one of them fell in. They said they’d never seen anyone get out of the water so fast!

Comments like “one person skating while everyone else shuffles around” showed that not everyone was feeling brave. The weather had been pretty harsh, with forecasters predicting more cold days ahead.

But it looks like the chill is easing up soon. Temperatures are expected to rise to around 11C in the coming days, bringing a break from the cold snap.

The Met Office mentioned that the weather would stay cloudy and windy, with some rain expected. So, it seems like the ice skating days might be numbered!
