Dr. Vincenzo Giordano could be banned from practicing after being convicted of assaulting a woman in Edinburgh
He was charged back in November 2022 and found guilty shortly after. The court heard that he followed the woman and assaulted her, but details about her injuries weren’t shared.
After his conviction, he got an absolute discharge, meaning he won’t serve time, but he was slapped with a non-harassment order for a year. This means he can’t contact the victim at all.
Now, Giordano is facing a tribunal hearing to see if he can keep his job as a surgeon. This hearing is set for January 13 and could last until January 21.
The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service will look into the case, focusing on the assault and the non-harassment order. It’s a serious situation for him.
Giordano has been a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon since 2015 and has a special interest in aortic surgery. He studied in Italy before moving to the UK in 2017.
NHS Lothian, where he works, hasn’t commented on the situation, saying they don’t discuss individual staff matters.
