Nationwide East Kilbride’s Toy Appeal brings joy to hundreds of families this Christmas
East Kilbride: Nationwide Building Society has hit a new high with its Christmas Toy Appeal this year. They received a whopping 650 toys from the community, which is just amazing!
They teamed up with the STV Appeal to support Glasgow’s top Baby and Family Support Service. This charity is a real lifesaver for families in the area, especially during the holidays.
Every Christmas, they get referrals from schools and health workers to help families who need a little extra support. It’s heartwarming to see the community come together like this.
Last year, they helped over 1,500 families, providing each child with five gifts and some clothing. It’s all thanks to the generosity of local folks and businesses.
Audrey, who runs the charity, mentioned that they were worried about meeting demand last year, so they didn’t even advertise. But this year, the need is even greater due to the cost of living crisis.
She said they’ve never seen such high demand in their seven years of operation. It’s tough out there, but the community is stepping up to help.
