People on long-term PIP awards will receive simpler review letters from the DWP, easing the process for many.
London: The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is making things easier for folks nearing the end of their 10-year Personal Independence Payment (PIP) awards. Instead of the usual face-to-face evaluations, many will just get a shorter review form in the mail. This is part of a new, simpler process they’re rolling out.
To help everyone get ready, the DWP has shared a sample form online. It’s called the ‘PIP AR2’ form, and it’s meant to give people a heads-up on what to expect. This way, you can gather any info you might need before the form arrives.
Most ongoing awards are for those who need a lot of support or whose situations are getting worse. Since 2019, this has included many people who are already of State Pension age.
The review form is six pages long and asks about your personal details, your main healthcare provider, and your health condition. It’s important to provide accurate info about your healthcare professional, whether that’s your GP or a specialist.
There are specific questions that let you explain any changes in your health or daily living needs since your last PIP decision. They want to know how your condition affects you, not just what the condition is.
One question even asks if you’re okay with the DWP getting more info from your doctor. You don’t have to give consent, but if you don’t, they’ll just use the info they already have.
At the end of the form, you’ll need to sign and date it. The DWP will keep your payments coming while they review your case, so no need to stress about that.
When the form arrives, it’ll come with a letter explaining everything. Just remember, there’s usually a month to send it back, so keep an eye on that deadline. If you need more time, just call the PIP enquiry line right away.
