A woman caught speeding in Leicester blamed her wrist injury for using cocaine
Leicester: A woman named Sharon Hextall was pulled over by the police for speeding. She was driving her BMW on Hinckley Road when officers noticed her going too fast.
The police followed her until she parked at Meridian Leisure Park. They arrested her and took her to the station, where a blood test revealed she was four times over the cocaine limit.
Turns out, she had 208 micrograms of a cocaine by-product in her system, while the legal limit is just 50 micrograms. Not good!
During the court hearing, the prosecutor explained how the police spotted her speeding on June 18. They managed to catch up with her after she turned into the leisure park.
Hextall had a previous drink-driving ban from 2015. Her lawyer argued that she was only using cocaine to cope with pain from a wrist injury. She also cares for her elderly mother and has a heart condition.
In court, Hextall was visibly upset and expressed her shame. She pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and was banned from driving for three years. She also has to pay a fine and costs.
She told the magistrates she was really sorry for what she did and felt terrible about it.
