Swansea: A drug dealer got caught in Mumbles, claiming he was just there for a drink and some fresh air. But really, he was dealing drugs. Hakim Collace and his buddy Alex Amanuel were in town for a much darker reason.

The court heard that Amanuel was already on license after a previous drug conviction. He was supposed to be staying out of trouble, but here he was, back at it again. Police got a tip about some shady dealings at the Matthew Street flats, and when they checked the CCTV, they saw two guys making a quick exchange with a known user.

The next day, the cops spotted their car near the seafront. They pulled it over and arrested Collace and Amanuel. A search of Amanuel’s place turned up a stash of crack cocaine, heroin, cash, and drug paraphernalia. One of the phones they found was a known drug line, sending out bulk messages to users.

When questioned, Amanuel kept quiet, but Collace said he was just in Mumbles for an “open day” and to buy some cannabis. The judge wasn’t buying it. Amanuel, who had a history of drug offenses, got 44 months in prison, while Collace received three years. They both learned the hard way that you can’t just waltz into a community and deal drugs without consequences.
