Llanrwst: Starting Monday, drivers on the A5 and A470 in North Wales are in for a rough ride. Roadworks are kicking off, and it’s going to be a bit of a hassle.

The A470 work in Conwy is likely to cause some serious traffic jams, especially in Llanrwst. They’re resurfacing a stretch of road right into the town center, which could slow things down quite a bit.

Meanwhile, in Llangollen, they’re tackling a retaining wall on the A5. This project is set to take about two months, so expect delays if you’re heading that way.

The Llanrwst work is shorter, lasting about three weeks. They’ll be resurfacing the A470 from the historic Pont Fawr bridge to a lay-by near Meadow Vale filling station. Traffic signals will help manage the flow.

Initially, the work will happen during the day from January 27 to February 6. After that, they’ll continue until February 18, with some night work too. Just a heads up, no oversized loads can pass through the worksite during this time.

Traffic Wales mentioned that the schedule might change based on how the work is going. They’re trying to do the work when traffic is lighter to keep disruptions to a minimum.

In Llangollen, they’re also planning these roadworks before the holiday rush, as the A5 gets busy then. They need to replace a stone retaining wall next to Hall Street, which is essential for safety.

Expect temporary traffic lights to be in place around the clock, and during busy times, they’ll have someone manually controlling them. There aren’t any official detours, so just be prepared for some delays.
