Earlestown: A tragic incident unfolded when Daniel Halliwell, 35, was speeding in his flashy Ferrari 812 GTS. He was reportedly showing off to a friend, reaching speeds of up to 136mph. This reckless behavior led to a devastating crash with a mother and her three-week-old baby on the Daresbury Expressway.

The crash happened on July 21, 2023, just after 5 PM. Halliwell lost control of his car while trying to swerve around another vehicle, colliding with the mother’s Ford Fiesta. Eyewitnesses described the sound of the crash as “like an explosion.”

The baby suffered severe brain injuries and was initially not expected to survive. Thankfully, he was treated and sent home, but he now faces lifelong challenges, needing constant care. His mother shared how her once “happy, healthy” son’s life has been turned upside down, as he struggles with mobility and developmental milestones.

Halliwell, who also sustained injuries, initially lied about his speed, claiming he was only going 60mph. However, he later admitted to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. In court, he expressed deep remorse for his actions, acknowledging the pain he caused the family.

The judge sentenced him to 32 months in prison and banned him from driving for five years. Halliwell’s actions have left a lasting impact on the baby and his family, a reminder of the dangers of reckless driving.
