A driver was banned after going the wrong way on the M25 while police escorted a heavy load
Surrey: So, there was this wild incident on the M25. A drink driver, Kieran Pepperell, was caught zooming the wrong way down the motorway. This happened while police were escorting a massive 437-tonne load. Crazy, right?
He’s 36 and just got hit with a 14-month driving ban and over a grand in fines. This all went down back in November, between junctions 8 and 9. Talk about a risky move!
According to Surrey Police, they were moving this huge load from Tilbury Docks to Weybridge when they spotted a black Audi A1 heading straight for them. The police bikers were like, “Whoa, this is dangerous!”
To avoid a nasty crash, the police car positioned itself right in the Audi’s path. Luckily, the driver hit the brakes just in time and stopped. But then, he blew a 49 on the breath test, which is way over the limit.
In custody, he blew a 47. The legal limit is 35, so yeah, he was definitely over. They’re still scratching their heads about how he ended up driving the wrong way, but it’s clear he ignored a lot of road signs.
On New Year’s Eve, he faced the music in court. The judge disqualified him and made him pay £1,322 in fines and costs. Surrey Police are really pushing the message that drinking and driving is a big no-no. It can lead to serious consequences, including jail time.
They wrapped up their statement by saying it’s pure luck that no one got hurt in this whole mess. Just goes to show how important it is to stay safe on the roads!
