Stockport: I decided to explore Greater Manchester’s hidden food spots this January. My first stop was a fantastic Hong Kong-style bakery in Wythenshawe.

Feeling inspired, I searched for a hidden pizza place on social media. I found Crust MCR, a new Italian kitchen serving fresh Neapolitan pizzas.

Crust MCR started last year, selling pizza from a converted horsebox at events. Due to high demand, they opened a brick-and-mortar location in Stockport.

My journey to find it was a bit tricky. The sun was setting, and my Sat Nav stopped working. I had to rely on my memory of the map.

Using Strawberry Studios as a guide, I navigated dimly lit streets. Finally, I spotted Crust MCR nestled between a car dealership and an aquarium store.

The place looked simple, but the pizza was amazing. They use high-quality ingredients, like Fior di Latte mozzarella and fresh dough made from scratch.

I ordered through Instagram, which was a bit chaotic. But the owners were accommodating and timed my order perfectly.

The prices were a pleasant surprise. A 12-inch pizza costs just £7, and you can add a drink for £2. They offer classic options and unique flavors.

Many pizzas are vegan, like the Pesto and Sweet Marg. They also have tasty dips for just £1.50 each.

If you have a sweet tooth, try their cannoli with various fillings. Four cannoli cost only £4.

I ordered two pizzas and drinks for £15, which felt like a steal. The unit had a no-frills vibe with a few plants and fold-out chairs.

When I arrived, I could hear staff chatting. A bell alerted them, and soon I had my order in hand.

At home, I opened the pizza boxes, and they looked incredible. The Hot Honey pizza was topped with pepperoni and nduja, and the crust was perfect.

The Parma pizza had prosciutto and rocket, with a nice char. Both pizzas had a great balance of flavors and textures.

Crust MCR keeps it simple and unpretentious. It may be hard to find, but that’s part of the fun of discovering hidden gems.
