A Devon man faces charges for allegedly threatening Labour MP Jess Phillips amid rising tensions in politics
Seaton: So, there’s this guy from Devon, right? Jack Bennett, 39, has been charged for making threats to Jess Phillips, the Labour MP. This all kicked off after Elon Musk had some pretty harsh words for her.
Apparently, Bennett sent some nasty messages to Jess and a couple of others between April 2024 and January 2025. Not cool, right? Musk even said she should be in prison for not pushing for a public inquiry into child exploitation in Oldham. He really went off, calling her a “rape genocide apologist.”
Now, Bennett’s out on bail and is due in court at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on February 18. It’s a bit of a mess, and Sir Keir Starmer even mentioned that a “line has been crossed” with all the threats flying around.
