Honiton: A doctors’ surgery in Devon has had to close its doors because of some serious flooding. Honiton Surgery, located on Marlpits Lane, reported that water has wreaked havoc in 30 of its clinical rooms.

This all started after the heavy rains on December 30. They even shared a video showing debris from the ceilings all over the wet floor. To make matters worse, most of the building is without power.

In a recent update on social media, the surgery informed the community about the situation. They mentioned that the building isn’t safe, with ceilings collapsing and extensive water damage.

They also noted that their server and communications room got hit hard, leaving them without functional computers. Most clinical areas are dark and without power.

Because of this, they can only provide urgent care on Thursday and Friday mornings this week. For anything else, folks need to reach out to NHS111. They’re trying to contact patients who had appointments this week, too. Prescriptions can still be ordered through the NHS app or dropped in the surgery’s letterbox.

They apologized for the hassle and mentioned they don’t expect to reopen anytime soon. They’re working with local NHS facilities to keep care going for their staff and clinicians.

If anyone has a medical emergency, they should call 999. For non-emergency medical advice, the number to call is 111.
