A Derbyshire school went into lockdown due to a drug user threatening locals, keeping students safe until police resolved the situation
Etwall: So, there was this big scare at one of the schools in Derbyshire. John Port Spencer Academy had to lock its doors because of a drug user causing trouble in the area.
Parents got an email saying there was an “urgent situation” outside, and they needed to keep the kids inside for their safety. It was a bit tense, to say the least.
The whole thing lasted about half an hour. The school waited for the police to give the green light before letting the students go home.
Principal Laura O’Leary sent out a message explaining that they had to delay the end of the school day because of the situation in the village. She reassured everyone that the police were on it.
After about 20 minutes, they sent another email saying it was safe for the kids to head home, either by bus or on foot. Ms. O’Leary thanked everyone for being so patient.
According to the police, they got called about a fight between two guys on Main Street around 2:20 PM. They’re still looking into it, but no arrests have been made yet.
