This heritage centre has been an independent museum for 40 years. It also had a community space, café, and shop. The museum showcased the town’s history and featured many local items. The building was renovated in 2019 with a £1.34 million grant from the National Lottery.
To protect the collection, the trustees are reaching out for help. They want local businesses, groups, and individuals to support the future of the Wirksworth Story collection. Their goal is to keep it in the town for years to come.
Jacqueline Ferguson Lee, the chair of the trustees, said they need help to secure the collection’s future. She mentioned that visitors often leave positive comments about the museum. They want to ensure these valuable artefacts don’t get lost.
