Derby City Council is unable to reveal the sale price for Allestree Hall, which has been sold to a local developer for renovation.
Derby: So, the Derby City Council has sold Allestree Hall, but they’re keeping the sale price under wraps for now. They recently announced that a local developer, Staton Young, is taking over the historic building to turn it into a wedding venue.
A Labour councillor mentioned that this sale is a big deal. The hall has been sitting empty for ages, and the council really needs the income, especially with their budget looking tight.
Councillor Kathy Kozlowski, who’s in charge of governance and finance, expressed excitement about finding a buyer with experience in restoring historic places. She believes Allestree Hall is ready for a fresh start.
They’re hoping that this sale will not only bring in some much-needed cash but also allow the new owner to revitalize the building. With the right care, it could shine again.
When the Local Democracy Reporting Service asked about the sale price, the council said they couldn’t share that info just yet. They’re still working out some details with Staton Young.
A council spokesperson explained that negotiations are ongoing, and they’ll reveal the financial details once everything is finalized. They also mentioned that a planning application needs to be submitted before the developer can get a long lease.
Marc Brough, the managing director at Staton Young, is really looking forward to this project. He sees it as a fantastic chance to restore a piece of Derby’s history and can’t wait to create a beautiful wedding venue.
