Train journeys from Surrey to London Waterloo will face delays on two Sundays due to essential engineering work.
London: Train services on the South Western Railway will be disrupted on two Sundays in February. This affects journeys into London Waterloo, which may take longer than usual.
Engineers will work in the Wimbledon area, impacting services across the SWR network. On Sunday, February 2, and Sunday, February 9, they will renew about 800 meters of track and other essential components.
They will also replace points, which help trains switch tracks, and install more conductor rail. This work aims to improve the reliability of the railway.
On February 9, additional engineering work in Portsmouth will further change train services. Once completed, these upgrades will lead to better journeys for passengers.
Peter Williams from South Western Railway advises travelers to plan ahead for these Sundays. Many services will be revised, diverted, or replaced by buses due to the ongoing work.
He assures customers that once the maintenance is done, they can expect a more reliable railway. Passengers are encouraged to check their travel plans before heading out.
