Southport: A chilling scene unfolded when police raided the bedroom of Axel Rudakubana. They found a stash of weapons, including knives and a machete, along with a lunchbox filled with deadly ricin.

It turns out he had been buying these weapons online for at least two years before the tragic events. The police even shared images of the weapons found under his bed during the search.

Things took a darker turn when they discovered a suspicious substance in a plastic container. Scientists confirmed it was ricin, a potent toxin that could have killed thousands if inhaled. The court revealed that the beans found could have produced enough ricin to potentially kill 12,500 people.

Alongside the weapons, they found items from a makeshift chemical lab, including goggles and a pestle and mortar with remnants of castor beans. A knife matching the one used in the murders was also located in his messy living room.

Rudakubana’s online history raised alarms too. He had researched extreme violence, including topics like genocide and urban warfare. His obsession with violence was evident in the books and articles he read.

He even used security software to hide his identity while ordering knives online, which is illegal for anyone under 18. Just two weeks before the Southport incident, he received two knives.

Concerns about Rudakubana had been raised multiple times before. He had previously contacted Childline with alarming questions about wanting to kill someone. His history of violence included bringing a knife to school and attacking a fellow student.

In the days leading up to the murders, his father stopped him from taking a cab to his old school, where he may have been planning a massacre. Just minutes before leaving home, he searched for a brutal knife attack that had occurred earlier that year.
