Cardiff: Dan Biggar, the former Wales star, recently opened up about the upcoming Six Nations. He gave a candid take on how he sees Wales faring and even named Scotland as his dark horse for the tournament.

Wales is heading into this championship after a rough patch, having not won a single Test match in over a year. They’ve got a record 12-match losing streak hanging over them, which is pretty tough. Despite this, the Welsh Rugby Union decided to keep Warren Gatland as head coach, hoping for a turnaround.

Things won’t be easy, though. Their first match is against France in Paris, a place where they haven’t won in six years. France is looking strong this year, especially with their star player Dupont back in action.

On a podcast, Biggar joked about the chances of South Africa joining the Six Nations, saying it’s about as likely as Wales beating France in their opener. He pointed out that even when Wales was at its best, winning in Paris was a tough ask.

Biggar mentioned that with Wales struggling and France having a deep squad, it’s a daunting challenge. He thinks the real target for Wales should be their next game in Rome, where they might have a better shot at a win.

When asked how Gatland can boost the team’s confidence, Biggar said it’s all about belief. He feels that while they might not have the confidence to win in Paris, they could feel more hopeful about Rome.

He also stressed that something needs to change for Wales. Biggar suggested that they should acknowledge their current situation and focus on building for the future rather than putting pressure on themselves to win in Paris.

As for Scotland, Biggar sees them as potential dark horses. He believes they have a lot to prove this year, especially after not making it past the pool stages in the last two World Cups. He thinks they have a good chance to make a strong showing in the Six Nations.
