The father of John George, missing in Spain, pleads for his son’s body to be returned home to Belfast after weeks of searching.
Belfast: A dad is heartbroken after his son, John George, went missing in Spain nearly three weeks ago. John was on holiday when he last contacted his family on December 14. Four days later, he was reported missing after not showing up for his flight back to Northern Ireland.
Spanish authorities suspect that John, a father of two, may have been killed shortly after he went out of touch. His family is determined to find him and bring him back to Belfast.
His father, Billy, is currently in Alicante, searching alongside his wife, Sharon, and John’s siblings, along with many friends and family from home.
In a heartfelt video shared on Facebook, Billy expressed his anguish, saying, “I’ve never begged for anything in my life, but I’ll get on my knees if I have to. Just give me my son’s body.” He pleaded for anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the pain this situation has caused their family.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with the search, which has raised over £24,000. A volunteer canine search team from Northern Ireland has also joined the efforts, covering vast areas in their search for John.
Meanwhile, the Police Service of Northern Ireland is working closely with Spanish authorities and has opened a public portal for anyone with information to assist in the investigation.
They encourage anyone who might have relevant information or footage to reach out, as every bit of help could make a difference in finding John.
