Abbey Hulton: A dad of four, Kevin Burnett, sadly passed away the day after Christmas. He collapsed at home, and it was a real shock for everyone.
Firefighters had to break down the bathroom door to get to him, but by the time they did, it was too late. His daughter, Kelsey, shared that he had been to the hospital for chest pains but was sent home with just painkillers.
She said, “We’re devastated. The day he died, he got up early and then collapsed. It’s just awful.” They had a good Christmas together, but now everything feels different.
Kevin had been dealing with chest pains for a week before his passing. Kelsey mentioned that they suspect something might have been missed during his hospital visits.
He leaves behind three other daughters and his partner, Gemma, whom he married in 2024. Kelsey expressed how hard it is to cope, especially for her youngest sister, who is just 11.
Now, the family is trying to raise £8,000 for the funeral costs. Kelsey said, “It feels like we’re begging, but we just can’t afford it.” They’ve managed to gather over £3,000 so far, thanks to the kindness of friends and family.
“It’s heartbreaking. We’re all trying to stay strong for our mum, who’s really struggling. Life will never be the same without Dad. He was our rock,” Kelsey added.
