Firefighters tackled a large shed fire in Abbey Wood, South East London, with multiple crews responding to the scene late last night
Abbey Wood: Last night, a big fire broke out in a shed on Basildon Road. Fire crews were called out around 11:30 PM, and it was quite a scene.
About 25 firefighters and four fire engines rushed to tackle the flames. They got 27 calls from worried locals who spotted the blaze. Sadly, one shed and a chunk of garden fencing were completely lost.
Some damage also hit nearby homes, with half of a metal shed and a bit of a wooden one affected. Thankfully, the fire was under control by 12:40 AM.
Sub Officer Anna Snelson was on the scene and mentioned how visible the fire was, with flames shooting high into the air. It was a busy night for the fire brigade!
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade confirmed the details, saying the cause of the fire was accidental. It’s a relief that no one was hurt.
