Daniel Tunney, a prolific sex offender, has been sentenced to 10 years for possessing thousands of indecent images of children in Crewe
Crewe: A disturbing case has come to light involving a man named Daniel Tunney. This guy was caught with a staggering number of indecent images of children. He’s now facing a hefty 10-year prison sentence after his appearance at Chester Crown Court.
Tunney, 42, had already admitted to making these indecent images and breaking the rules of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order. The police got a tip-off back in September 2024 that he was up to no good online.
So, the Online Child Abuse Investigation Team swung into action and raided his home. As part of his conditions as a registered sex offender, he was supposed to inform the police about any digital devices he had. But guess what? They found three unregistered devices during the search—a mobile phone, a hard drive, and a memory card.
When they dug into his devices, they discovered thousands of images and videos of child abuse. The numbers are shocking: over 90,000 indecent images, including hundreds of the most serious category A images and videos.
Detective Sergeant Nathanael Johnston made it clear that Tunney was a serious threat to kids. Thanks to the hard work of the police, he’s now behind bars, facing the consequences of his actions.
Detective Constable Meg Griffiths emphasized that these crimes have real victims. They’re committed to tracking down and prosecuting anyone involved in online child exploitation. If you suspect something, don’t hesitate to reach out to Cheshire Constabulary or Crimestoppers.
