The beloved Snax in the City café in Coventry will close today for redevelopment.
Coventry: A well-loved café, Snax in the City, is shutting its doors today. This closure is part of the big City Centre South redevelopment project.
Snax has been a staple on Hertford Street since 1997, though it opened as Snax in 2012. Before that, it was known as Gingers Café and Godiva Café.
Sahil Aggarwal has run the place for over 20 years. It’s got a solid four-star rating on Tripadvisor and a five-star hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.
With the redevelopment, shops on Hertford Street and nearby areas will be demolished. Mr. Aggarwal is hopeful about reopening Snax somewhere else in the city this year.
He mentioned that many customers have been coming to the café for generations, bringing their kids along now. It’s a real community spot.
He’s also making sure his staff are taken care of by relocating them to other stores for now. Fingers crossed for a new location soon!
