A couple was brutally assaulted by a mob in Cleethorpes, leaving them injured and traumatized after a night out
Cleethorpes: A couple had a terrifying experience when they were attacked by a group of six people on the High Street. It was a wild scene, described as “hideous” by witnesses.
Rylan Leshone, just 20, admitted to assaulting the couple after a night of partying on May 26, 2023. The whole thing was caught on CCTV, showing the mob going after the couple for over nine minutes.
In court, the prosecutor shared how the group was merciless, kicking and punching the couple while they were on the ground. It was shocking to see how they kept coming back for more, even after the couple was clearly hurt.
When the ambulance finally arrived, the woman had a bleeding nose and bruises, while her husband had a swollen face and cuts. It was a brutal scene that left them both shaken.
The injured woman expressed her fears for her children, saying she now feels unsafe going out in Cleethorpes. She mentioned how this incident has made her want to stay home more.
The violence erupted after some words were exchanged at a bus stop, and it escalated quickly. Taxis drove by, but no one intervened as the attack unfolded.
Last year, five other members of the group were also charged for their roles in the attack. The judge called it “drunken mob violence,” which is something that makes people think twice about going out.
During the sentencing, the judge emphasized how serious this was, saying it was a random and unjustified attack on innocent people. The defendants had no prior convictions, which surprised many.
At a separate hearing, Leshone’s lawyer argued that he was just trying to help a friend during the chaos. The other defendants received suspended sentences and community service.
The judge made it clear that this kind of behavior is unacceptable and that a strong message needed to be sent to the community. Leshone was sentenced to nine months, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to do community service.
