Sarah and Ashley are thrilled to move into their first home in Nansledan, just in time for the festive season
Newquay: A young couple, Sarah and Ashley, just moved into their first home, and they’re over the moon! They were really struggling to find a place together after deciding to live as a couple. Sarah had been renting for years, while Ashley was still living with his parents. Renting was getting pricey, so they decided to save up by moving in with Ashley’s folks.
But that was only a temporary fix since his parents were also looking to move. They heard about a shared ownership property in Nansledan from a friend who had recently bought a home there. So, they thought, why not give it a shot?
Sarah loved the look of Nansledan and applied, not really expecting to get it. But guess what? They did! She was thrilled, especially since they managed to move in just in time for Christmas. It felt like a dream come true.
After applying in August, they were in their new two-bedroom home by November. Sarah couldn’t believe how much space they had compared to renting. Plus, they have their adorable Shih Tzu, Zelda, to enjoy it with them.
Sarah shared that she had moved to Newquay from Bude a few years back but struggled to find a long-term rental. Meeting Ashley changed everything, and now they’re finally on the property ladder. She mentioned that their mortgage is even less than what she used to pay for rent.
Being locals helped them qualify for the shared ownership scheme, which they found to be a fantastic way for first-time buyers to get started. They love their new neighborhood, filled with cafes, bars, and shops. Plus, they have a dog-friendly garden and a nice walking path nearby for Zelda.
They’re also just a short stroll from the beach, which is a huge bonus. Ashley said the whole process was surprisingly easy, and they felt supported every step of the way. They’re excited to settle in and make this place their home for years to come.
