A five-vehicle crash in County Durham has left a road closed for over 20 hours due to severe weather hindering recovery efforts
Bishop Auckland: So, there was this pretty serious crash on the A68 Tow Law. It involved five vehicles and happened around 4:40 PM on Sunday. The weather has been really rough, which is why the road is still closed more than 20 hours later.
Emergency services jumped into action right away. The North East Ambulance Service sent out three ambulance crews and a clinical team leader. Thankfully, the injuries were minor, and three people were taken to the University Hospital of North Durham.
But here’s the kicker: the road is still shut down between West Lane junction and Butsfield Lane crossroads. The weather is just too bad for the recovery vehicles to get in there and clear things up. It’s a real mess.
According to the police, they got the call about the crash and confirmed that several drivers went to the hospital with minor injuries. They’re advising everyone to find different routes until the road can be reopened.
The ambulance service also mentioned they were called to the scene shortly after the crash. It’s a tough situation, and everyone’s just hoping the weather clears up soon so things can get back to normal.
