County Durham: A shocking incident unfolded when a pensioner was attacked in his own home. It all happened in the dead of night when a couple barged in, and things took a terrifying turn.
Elijah Hind, 24, and Tammy Hedley, 34, were the culprits. They entered the victim’s home without permission and demanded money. Hind was armed with a carving knife, which made the situation even scarier.
During the chaos, he hit the 68-year-old man over the head with a hard object, leaving him injured. The intruders made off with the victim’s wallet, bank cards, and his Ford Mondeo.
In court, it was revealed that Hind had a history of trouble with the law, while Hedley had known the victim before this incident. She had even sold him items in the past.
On the night of the attack, Hedley showed up at the victim’s house with Hind and another woman. They asked for a ride, but the victim felt uneasy about Hind, who was drunk.
Later, after midnight, they returned to his home, claiming to sell cleaning products. When the victim refused, they forced their way inside. Hind then brandished the knife and demanded money.
He shook the victim’s trousers to get his wallet and phone, then took the car keys. The situation escalated when he struck the man on the head, causing a serious injury.
After the attack, the pair fled in the victim’s car but were caught later through CCTV footage. Hind was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years, while Hedley received four weeks in prison.
Both were also given restraining orders to keep them away from the victim for 15 years. It’s a tough reminder of how quickly things can turn dangerous.
