Leicestershire County Council announces a 13-week road closure for upgrades aimed at improving traffic flow in Hinckley town centre
Hinckley: So, here’s the scoop. Drivers in Hinckley are in for a bit of a hassle. There’s a big road closure coming up that could last around 13 weeks. The folks at Leicestershire County Council are saying it’s all for some major upgrades to help traffic flow better for everyone.
The work is kicking off later this month at the Hollier’s Walk junction. This spot connects a bunch of roads, including Derby Road and Leicester Road, so it’s a pretty busy area.
They’re planning to modernize some old traffic signals that have been around for 20 years. Plus, they want to make it easier for pedestrians to get around and improve how traffic moves through the junction. Sounds like a good plan, right?
During the work, there will be closures on Derby Road and New Buildings, but Hollier’s Walk will stay open in both directions. They’re also going to widen footpaths and resurface some areas to make it safer for everyone.
There’s even going to be a new diagonal crossing point and some smart tech to help with traffic detection. This should help cut down on waiting times and make the junction work better overall.
Councillor Ozzy O’Shea mentioned that Hinckley is a busy town, and these upgrades are crucial for keeping things moving smoothly. The work is set to start on January 20, so keep an eye out for more updates!
