Essex is set to welcome 114 new childcare spots, thanks to over £330,000 in funding aimed at supporting working parents in the area
Essex: Big news for parents! The council is putting over £330,000 into creating 114 new childcare spots. This funding will help eight local providers expand their services.
Starting in April 2024, eligible working parents can access more childcare hours for their little ones. Right now, two-year-olds can get 15 hours a week, but that’s just the beginning.
By September 2024, kids aged nine months to three years will also be able to snag 15 hours of support each week. And come September 2025, those nine-month-olds can get a whopping 30 hours of care weekly!
Essex County Council is making this happen with nearly £3 million from the government. They’ve already approved funding for eight providers who met the criteria.
For instance, Blossom Barn in Takeley is getting nearly £48,000 to create 20 new spots. Little Nipperz in Mayland is set to receive £105,000 for 32 places at a new site. It’s all about making life easier for working parents.
And there’s more to come! A second round of funding will be available in autumn 2025, so more providers can join in on this initiative.
