Stoke-on-Trent drivers are advised to exercise caution as gritting teams work to clear roads after heavy snowfall
Stoke-on-Trent: Gritters have been busy all over the city after a sudden drop in temperatures and some heavy snowfall during rush hour. It caused quite a mess, with traffic stuck on major roads when the winter weather hit again this morning.
The city council is asking drivers to be extra careful if they have to go out. They mentioned that their gritting teams were out overnight and are back at it again from 9 am today.
Some drivers have said that certain side streets are really tricky to navigate. There were reports of a seven-car pile-up on Eastwood Road in Hanley, and photos from Plex Street in Tunstall showed at least two cars in separate accidents.
Earlier this week, Brookwood Drive in Meir was closed off due to multiple crashes. The council updated their Facebook page, saying their gritting teams have been working hard to keep things moving.
They reiterated, “Please be careful if you need to travel.”
