Vicky Myers, known for her role in Coronation Street, opens up about her unexpected health battle with skin cancer and her journey to recovery
It all started when she took her nephew to a doctor’s appointment. The doctor noticed a dark mark on her leg, which led to a whirlwind of events. Vicky shared that she was shocked when she found out she had skin cancer.
She reflected on her past, saying she felt a bit lost after her marriage ended. The cancer diagnosis hit her hard, making her realize how much time she felt she had wasted. It was a wake-up call for her.
Vicky described how the diagnosis shifted her perspective. Now, every time she sees the Coronation Street sign, it brings a wave of emotions. It’s a reminder of her journey and the importance of cherishing life.
Interestingly, it was a hot day that led to her diagnosis. She had rolled up her combat trousers, which allowed the doctor to spot the mark. If it had been a cooler day, who knows if it would have been noticed?
After her diagnosis, Vicky became a sunscreen advocate. She was quickly referred to the hospital, where they confirmed it was malignant melanoma but thankfully hadn’t spread. Now, she’s cancer-free and living life to the fullest.
Coronation Street continues to air on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX, keeping fans entertained while Vicky embraces her new lease on life.
