A long-standing feud in Cork has been resolved as key figures agree the violence was unnecessary and stemmed from trivial issues
Cork: Recently, some folks from rival groups finally sat down to sort things out. They decided it was time to put their issues to rest. It’s been a long road, but they’re ready to move on.
Apparently, the big shots from both sides agreed that the violence was just plain silly. They said it was all about young guys getting caught up in stupid stuff. It really shouldn’t have escalated like it did.
In a video that made the rounds, you can see these guys meeting up to shake hands and agree on peace. One guy even said, “Let’s get on with our lives, it’s 2025, we’re done with this.” It’s nice to see them trying to mend fences.
This comes after a rough patch with more violence and police crackdowns. Just the other day, the Gardai, with some backup, went after groups involved in the recent chaos. They arrested a few guys and even found some weapons.
Earlier this week, there was a shocking scene at a supermarket where a bunch of hooded men caused a ruckus. They brought weapons and started a fight that spilled out into the parking lot. Not cool at all.
Cork TD Ken O’Flynn has been pushing for an end to the fighting. He’s feeling hopeful about the peace talks but knows they need to tread carefully. He praised the efforts to bring everyone together and highlighted the hard work of the community and the Gardai.
He mentioned that the ongoing violence has really shaken up families and disrupted the community’s sense of safety. It’s a big deal, and he wants to make sure they learn from this mess.
As they celebrate this step forward, he stressed the need for zero tolerance towards anything that could harm the community. He’s also calling for more community policing to help build respect and understanding, so they don’t end up in this situation again.
