Cork’s bus services will return to full operation as new drivers join, enhancing public transport for residents and visitors alike
So, what does that mean? Route 202/202A will run every 20 minutes instead of 30, Route 205 will be every 15 minutes instead of 20, and Route 208 will be every 10 minutes instead of 15. Sounds good, right?
They’re also looking at the 220 service to make it more reliable, with a new timetable expected by late April 2025. Last year, they carried 16.5 million passengers in Cork, which is a nice bump from the year before.
Thanks to some serious recruitment efforts, they’ve got a solid group of new drivers ready to hit the road. But, traffic can still be a bit of a headache, with only 2% of their service kilometers using bus lanes in the city.
Bus Éireann is all in on improving public transport for Cork and is working with the National Transport Authority to roll out Bus Connects Cork. They’re also sorry for any hassle caused over the past few months and are excited to offer even better service in 2025.
