Bambie Thug shares their harrowing escape from LA wildfires thanks to a friend’s quick action during a chaotic evacuation
Los Angeles: Bambie Thug, the Irish Eurovision star, felt incredibly lucky to escape the wildfires that erupted near their Hollywood stay. They were on holiday after a busy year of performing.
While chilling with friends, an evacuation order hit, and thankfully, a buddy swooped in to drive them away from the flames. “I was just watching the news when it suddenly said to evacuate,” they recalled.
With wildfires raging, tens of thousands were forced to leave their homes. Bambie and their friends even climbed onto the roof to watch the chaos unfold around them.
“We were up there, and I was like, should we leave? Then boom, evacuation notice came through. I’ve never seen anything like it before,” they shared.
The winds were fierce, and the US National Weather Service warned that the storm could last for days. Bambie tried to grab an Uber to escape, but it kept getting canceled. Luckily, a friend came back to help them out.
“I felt so lucky. My friend gave me a lift down. Lucky the Irish, right?” they said, relieved to be safe.
Now in downtown LA, they feel secure, saying, “It’s concrete here, so I’m good.” They also praised the local community for their kindness during the crisis.
“People were driving around handing out masks. It’s heartwarming to see everyone come together,” they noted.
Despite the scare, Bambie is enjoying their break from performing. They’re soaking up the American vibe and working on new music.
“I’m just here to recharge, see friends, and write. It’s been a wild year since Eurosong, and I’m excited for what’s next,” they said, looking forward to new projects.
