Inverurie: So, there’s this car wash that’s been causing quite a ruckus in the neighborhood. It’s been a hot topic lately, especially among the folks living nearby.

The car wash, located on Church Terrace, has stirred up complaints from residents who say it’s been disrupting their peace. They’re not too happy about the noise and the spray from the power washers getting into their gardens.

It all started when Ilim Tanyelli turned an old builders yard into this car wash last year without getting the proper go-ahead from Aberdeenshire Council. The place had been empty for a couple of months before he set up shop.

Neighbors have sent in five letters of complaint, saying the noise is just too much. One resident, Anne Chapman, mentioned that the traffic has also gotten worse since the car wash opened.

Another local, Duncan Stewart, pointed out that the extended hours have really disrupted the quiet, especially on weekends. He’s not a fan of the noise from the power washers and vacuums either.

Mr. Stewart also thinks the car wash sign facing George Square is an eyesore. It just doesn’t fit in with the look of the street, according to him.

On the flip side, a few residents actually support the car wash. They believe it’s a good use of the old building and adds more options for people in Inverurie.

To address the complaints, Mr. Tanyelli has made some changes. His updated plan is set to be reviewed by the Garioch area committee next week.

Originally, the car wash was supposed to operate from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, but now it’ll close at 6 PM. They’re also planning to implement a one-way system for cars entering from St Andrews Gardens.

Cars will be washed inside one at a time, then moved to valeting bays for a deeper clean. Once they’re all shiny and ready, they’ll exit via Church Terrace.

To help with the noise, Mr. Tanyelli is also looking to install high-speed roller doors. Fingers crossed that helps keep the peace!
