Construction has kicked off for 146 homes in North Dublin, a collaboration between LDA and DCC, enhancing local housing options.
Dublin: Exciting news for the city! Construction has officially started on 146 new homes in North Dublin. This project is a collaboration between the Land Development Agency (LDA) and Dublin City Council (DCC).
The site, called An tSrúill, is located on Cromcastle Road in Coolock. It will feature 133 cost rental homes and 13 social homes. Plus, there will be community spaces, cultural areas, and open green spaces.
This 1.7-acre plot is right at the junction of Oscar Traynor Road and Kilmore Road, close to Beaumont Hospital and across from the Northside Shopping Centre. It’s a great spot!
The development will include apartments and public areas, with new landscaping and a public plaza to make it more inviting. Bennett Construction is on board and has already started work.
John Coleman, the Chief Executive of the LDA, expressed his excitement about the project. He mentioned that it’s being built to high standards in a well-served area, making it easy for residents to access local amenities.
He also highlighted the importance of providing much-needed cost rental and social housing, which will benefit the local community by creating new pedestrian routes and public spaces.
Richard Shakespeare, the Chief Executive of Dublin City Council, shared his enthusiasm too. He noted that breaking ground at An tSrúill is fantastic and that these homes will be high-quality and energy-efficient.
He emphasized DCC’s commitment to maximizing housing potential on their land and their effective partnership with the LDA to bring these projects to life.
