Tetney: It was a day filled with love and remembrance as hundreds gathered to honor Tim Todd, a father-of-two who left us too soon. He was just 38 when he passed away from a heart attack while on holiday in Tenerife with his family.

On December 28, 35 players took to the field at Tetney Playing Fields, with around 250 folks cheering them on. After the match, they held a raffle and auction at The Plough Inn, which turned out to be a huge success.

They sold an impressive 7,315 raffle tickets, thanks to the generosity of 77 local businesses that donated over 90 prizes. Even Manchester United FC got involved, sending a signed shirt, which was a lovely nod to Tim’s passion for the team.

In total, the event raised a staggering £12,000 for the British Heart Foundation. It was a real community effort, and everyone felt the love.

Josh Ward, who organized the event, shared how packed Tim’s funeral was, with many more outside. He described Tim as a friendly, caring guy who was loved by all. The idea for the match came after the funeral, and Josh was determined to make it special.

The program for the match included a touching tribute to Tim, highlighting his vibrant spirit and love for life. He was a devoted dad to Albie and Elsie, always on the go, whether it was cheering for Manchester United or spending time with his family.

Tim’s partner, Sophie, spoke about how caring he was and how much he adored their kids. She mentioned how hands-on he was as a dad, always playing and working in the garden with Albie. It’s heartbreaking that he didn’t get more time with Elsie.

After such a successful day, Josh and the team are planning to make this an annual event. He felt immense pride in what they accomplished together, and it was heartwarming to see the community come together for such a good cause.

Melanie Meik from the British Heart Foundation expressed her gratitude to everyone involved, emphasizing the importance of fundraising for life-saving research. It was a day to remember, filled with love, support, and hope for the future.

Josh also thanked all the sponsors and volunteers who made the day possible, showing just how much Tim meant to everyone.
