A dog was rescued from the sea at Porthcawl after being swept away by strong currents, thanks to the quick response of the coastguard.
Porthcawl: A dog needed rescuing from the sea at a Welsh beach. The coastguard was called to help. Porthcawl RNLI and Port Talbot Coastguard responded quickly at Newton Beach around 1:24 PM on Saturday.
The golden retriever was found near Newton Point, about 300 meters from the shore. It was being pulled further out to sea by the current. Thankfully, the volunteer crew rescued the dog and returned it safely to its owner on the beach.
The RNLI reported that the dog was shaken but unharmed. They also shared tips for others who might face a similar situation. If your dog gets into trouble, call them to a safe spot. If they can’t get out, dial 999 or 112 for the coastguard.
Port Talbot Coastguard confirmed their volunteers worked alongside Porthcawl Coastguard. They helped bring both the person and the dog safely back to shore. No further care was needed, so they returned to their station.
