Overnight road closures are set for January as the A63 Castle Street project progresses
Hull: So, there’s some roadwork going on that’s causing a bit of a hassle. Overnight closures are happening this week and will carry on through January for the A63 Castle Street project.
National Highways just dropped an update saying there will be closures on 17 nights this month. The road will be shut in both directions between Roger Millward Way and Daltry Street from 8 PM to 6 AM.
Here’s the rundown of the closures:
- Thursday 9 and Friday 10 January (2 nights)
- Monday 13 to Friday 17 January (5 nights)
- Monday 20 to Friday 24 January (5 nights, with a delayed westbound closure on Tuesday 21 January at 11 PM)
- Monday 27 to Friday 31 January (5 nights, with a westbound closure only on Thursday 30 January).
Don’t worry, though! They’ll have a fully-signed diversion set up using the A15, A164, A1079, and A1033 for eastbound traffic, and the opposite for westbound.
National Highways mentioned that there are no issues with the underpass delivery, even though the completion of this £355 million project has been pushed back to Spring 2026. It was supposed to wrap up this year.
The delay is due to a few smaller issues that popped up, which are pretty common given how complex the construction is.
Can you believe work on this project started almost five years ago back in 2020?
