Claudia Winkleman expresses concerns about her future in TV, revealing her fears about the end of her career as a presenter.
London: Claudia Winkleman is feeling a bit anxious about her career. She can’t believe how lucky she’s been as a presenter, but she worries it could all end suddenly.
At 52, she’s been freelancing, which brings its own set of pressures. It’s got her thinking about other options, just in case. She said, “I always panic because I’m freelance. One day, someone might just say, ‘We’re done with her.’”
But she’s okay with that. She’s had a great run and would just say, “Thanks, it’s been lovely.” Claudia has done a lot in her career, from writing columns to even considering a Masters degree.
Right now, she’s busy with shows like Strictly Come Dancing and The Traitors. Reflecting on The Traitors, she remembered a funny chat with her husband, Kris, while filming the first season.
She joked about her quirky outfit, saying, “I’m obsessed with it, but I’m wearing red fingerless gloves and a cape while talking about murder.” She thought her time might be up, but then people started loving the show.
Claudia was thrilled to get praise from her heroes like Kathy Burke and Russell T Davies on social media. Even though the show is a hit, she initially wasn’t sure about doing a second season.
On The Mid.Point podcast, she shared that she told her bosses, “We did it once, and it went well, but I don’t think we should do it again.” They just laughed and decided to go for it anyway.
The show has won several awards, including two National Television Awards for Most Popular Reality Competition. Looking ahead to the new series, Claudia said, “I don’t know if this one will do well. We don’t want to take it for granted.”
The Traitors airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
