Liverpool: The price of petrol and diesel can really change from one station to another. It’s been a wild ride over the last few years, hasn’t it?

The RAC’s Fuel Watch shows that unleaded petrol hit a high of 191.4p per litre back in July 2022, right when the cost of living was tough for many. But hey, there’s some good news! The average price has dropped to about 138.6p per litre across the UK now.

For those who prefer super unleaded, that’s sitting at around 153p, while diesel is at 145.2p. If you’re looking for premium diesel, expect to pay about 163.5p per litre.

But watch out! Some petrol stations, especially on the motorway, can charge a lot more. The RAC found that motorway service stations are charging an average of 162.8p per litre, which is nearly 25p higher than the average everywhere else.

So, it pays to be smart about where you fill up. Luckily, there’s a handy tool on PetrolPrices.com that helps you find the cheapest fuel nearby. The ECHO has put together a list of the best places to grab petrol and diesel within five miles of Liverpool city centre.

For unleaded petrol, here are the top spots: Costco Liverpool (members only) at 127.9p, Go Bootle at 128.9p, and Asda Bromborough at 130.7p.

And if you need diesel, Go Bootle is the cheapest at 133.9p, followed by Go Tranmere and Essar Brewster Street, both at 135.9p.

So, if you’re filling up this weekend, make sure to check these prices and save some money!
