A mother, daughter, and partner have been sentenced for a violent attack on a woman in Exeter, highlighting rising aggression in society
Exeter: So, there was this wild incident where a mum, her partner, and their daughter went all out attacking a woman. They stormed into a house and really went for it, throwing punches and pulling hair. It was a real mess.
Julie Loveridge, the mum, was the ringleader, with her daughter Shirley and partner Samuel Harris jumping in. Samuel even climbed through a window to join the chaos and ended up hitting the victim’s autistic son too. Not cool at all.
The court heard it was all a bit of a spur-of-the-moment thing, but still, it’s pretty shocking. The judge pointed out that this kind of violence is becoming more common these days, which is really concerning.
On March 9, the Loveridge women showed up at the victim’s house unexpectedly. They started yanking her hair and hitting her hard. Meanwhile, Harris, who was supposed to stay in the car, was banging on the door and then jumped in through the window to join the fight.
He ended up punching the victim’s son and then turned on the woman, hitting her multiple times. It was a brutal scene, and the poor woman ended up with injuries and a lot of fear about seeing them again.
In court, Julie admitted to assault and got an 18-month community order, along with some unpaid work and a bit of compensation. Her daughter got a similar deal, while Harris, who has a history of violence, received a three-year community order and a hefty amount of unpaid work.
The judge really hit home about how this reflects a bigger issue in society, with aggression on the rise for no good reason. It’s a worrying trend that we all need to pay attention to.
