The council has been saying the delays are due to “resource issues” and “vehicle breakdowns.” But some residents got a message saying they put out too much rubbish over Christmas, which is why it couldn’t all be picked up. The council even mentioned that the volume of waste was just too much for the crews to handle.
People received emails explaining that the recycling was overflowing, and the crews couldn’t keep up. They were told to leave their rubbish out, and the team would try to come back soon. But it’s frustrating, right?

The council has been asked to explain why these delays keep happening, especially around bank holidays. They admitted last year that they’ve had ongoing problems with waste collections during these times. They even tried a new approach to improve service, but it seems like there’s still a long way to go.
