Stoke: Families are really worried after four crashes on a slippery road in just two years. Fletcher Road is looking like an ice rink again with this cold snap.

Recently, some CCTV footage showed a car sliding around a bend on Fletcher Road. The worst spot seems to be where it meets the pedestrian walkway near Dunelm.

Now, folks are asking the Stoke-on-Trent City Council to put in a grit bin and make the road safer. They want something done before someone gets seriously hurt.

One resident, Michael Habtemarian, shared his frustration. He said, “Every time it snows, cars crash into me. Just this week, someone hit my car. We need a speed bump or something to slow them down. They’ve smashed into the wall, and it could easily be a house next time.”

Another neighbor, Robbie Dean, chimed in, saying, “The road is always damp, and when it freezes, it’s like an ice rink. We’ve had so many close calls. It just takes one wrong move.”

StokeonTrentLive has reached out to the council for their take on the residents’ worries.
