Captain Tom Moore’s daughter struggles as her £2m mansion is taken off the market after failed sale attempts
Marston Moretaine: So, it looks like Captain Tom Moore’s daughter, Hannah, is having a tough time. Her fancy mansion, which was up for sale, has been taken off the market. They were hoping for a quiet sale, but that didn’t pan out.
The place is a seven-bedroom beauty listed at £2.25 million. They put it up for sale last April, and even used Captain Tom’s legacy in the ads. You know, the one where he was knighted by the Queen for his amazing fundraising for the NHS during the pandemic.
They even had a bust of him in the hallway, celebrating his incredible achievement of raising nearly £39 million by walking laps in his garden. It’s a real shame that Hannah and her husband, Colin, couldn’t sell it.
Last October, it seemed like the property was still available, but it wasn’t being advertised anymore. Rightmove confirmed it was off the market, and the estate agents said they were going for a discreet listing. But now, it’s not even listed on their site anymore.
Earlier this year, they had to tear down a spa they built because it was too big. They had permission, but it didn’t go as planned. On top of that, there’s been a lot of anger about how they’ve managed the charity set up in Captain Tom’s name.
In July, they were disqualified as charity trustees after a probe found some serious issues. Hannah got a ten-year ban, and Colin got eight years. They’re not happy about it and feel like the whole process has been really tough on them.
After Captain Tom passed away in 2021, the foundation was created in his honor. The property listing even had a slick video highlighting the iconic driveway where he walked those famous laps. It’s a bittersweet situation for the family.
