A teacher in Cambridgeshire has been banned for asking a former pupil for a bath photo, raising serious concerns about professional conduct.
Lee worked at Swaffham Bulbeck Primary School from 2016 to 2020. Back in 2017, he was already in hot water for some allegations while he was the safeguarding lead and assistant headteacher. He got a written warning then, but things escalated.
In 2019, after the school joined a new trust, the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) got involved. They held a panel hearing in December 2024, where more allegations came to light.
It turned out that Lee was Facebook friends with a former pupil. He called her “stunning” and even talked about a romantic relationship. He asked her if she had “slept” with her boyfriend and said he didn’t deserve her. Yikes!
But it gets worse. He also asked her for photos when she mentioned being in the bath and in bed. The panel found these messages to be highly inappropriate and a serious breach of professional boundaries.
The school’s spokesperson said they were aware of the situation and took immediate action once they learned about the previous safeguarding issue. They assured the community that student safety is their top priority.
While the TRA was looking into the initial claims, some parents reported that Lee had contacted their child on social media. There were also claims of him being overly friendly, like hugging and kissing students. However, those specific allegations weren’t proven.
In the end, the panel concluded that Lee’s actions were unacceptable. He’s now banned from teaching indefinitely, meaning he can’t work in any school or educational setting in England. He can’t even apply to get his teaching license back.
It’s a pretty wild story, and it just goes to show how important it is to keep our kids safe in schools.
